Na Styku Association (Get up and Goals Poland) is happy to share a game for students “We Are All Migrants”. Thanks to the cooperation with the Social Development Department of the Municipal Office in Gdańsk and the Council of Migrants in Gdańsk, we created a location-based game for primary schools and tried it out with students from Primary School No. 81 in Gdańsk.
The idea of the game "We Are All Migrants" is for students to play one of the characters with a migration experience. Participants perform tasks at five stations and gain skills including traveler or builder skills. The game combines education and learning with entertainment and an unusual experience. An important part of the game is that students can be not only participants, but also location animators – we believe it increases sense of commitment and agency.
Some people see migrants as strangers, but in fact they are in a difficult situation. Because they have moved to another country, they may feel strange, they don't understand the language. This is how I felt while playing one location, when I didn't understand the language - says Julia, a student of Primary School 81 in Gdańsk.
- The children could feel that simple things become a challenge for the migrant. This experience teaches that each person is valuable and that we should overcome stereotypes - said Natalia Kowalishyna, a representative of the Council of Immigrants in Gdańsk.
